| Cathedral City approves ban on branding |

The Cathedral City's council approved an ordinance Wednesday banning body branding and scarification in the city, joining a growing cadre of officials who say they are concerned about the safety of body art procedures statewide. The City Council voted 4-0 to prohibit tattoo parlors and other businesses from administering what's commonly called “extreme body modification.” Councilman Paul Marchand abstained from voting. The ordinance was spearheaded by Cathedral City Councilman Greg Pettis.
